From the Volkswagen Group portal to a readable dashboard in three steps — with the portal quirks you should know about.
Go to the Volkswagen Group's EU Data Act portal: eu-data-act.drivesomethinggreater.com. Select your vehicle's brand (Volkswagen, VW Commercial Vehicles, Audi, Škoda, SEAT, Cupra or Bentley) and sign in with that brand's ID account — the vehicle must be linked to your account as owner or primary user. Request the historical data package.
The package arrives as a download link within days. The link expires after about 7 days, so don't sit on the notification.
⚠ Check the file size. First attempts often come back nearly empty — a JSON of a few KB with only a handful of snapshot fields. A real package with diagnostic history is tens of MB with hundreds of thousands of records. If yours is tiny, simply request the export again; it can take two or more attempts until a complete file arrives. This tool shows the record count while analyzing, so you see immediately whether you got a real one.
Upload the ZIP exactly as the portal delivered it, or the VIN-named JSON inside it. The file is streamed and analyzed by code running in your own browser tab — it is never transmitted anywhere, which you can verify in your browser's network tools. A 40 MB export analyzes in a few seconds.
No configuration is needed: your model is detected from the VIN and the display timezone from the vehicle's own clock. Usable capacity is measured only when battery-current and cell-voltage evidence supports it; otherwise the dashboard uses a clearly labelled nominal assumption. Optional settings are available next to the upload zone.
Six tabs of evidence: Overview, Driving & charging, Battery, Thermal, Backend & config, and a Package audit. Every value is labelled observed, derived or inferred. You can download the result as a single offline HTML file to keep or share, and export 23 cleaned CSV files for your own analysis.
VW retains only about two months of the high-frequency diagnostic history. But this tool accepts several exports at once and merges them into one deduplicated archive: request a fresh export every ~6 weeks, keep the files, and drop them all together. Your dashboard grows a history deeper than any single package — seasonal consumption and, when battery-side diagnostics are present, battery-degradation trends. After analyzing, use the small "add export" zone to merge more files into the current dashboard.
